Prince Ivan goes on many quests only to meet the beautiful Princess Elena. With the help of the gray wolf, he completes his task of obtaining the firebird and the steed with the golden mane for his father. But along the way comes jealously from his brothers who despise him for his act of kindness and bravery. They murdered him together and take Princess Elena and the firebird and the steed with the golden for themselves. Thanks to the gray wolf, he is alive again as the gray wolf revives through a ritual process. Princess Elena manages to expose Prince Ivan's brothers crime to the king and his brothers are imprisoned for their crime. Prince Ivan and Princess Elena marry each other and live happily ever after. The art of style is amazing as the illustrator combines line and water color to create a fresh sparkling picture book that makes it easy to attend to. In addition, the overall style of the book is narrative as it contains characters, setting, dialogues, actions, events and resolution to create the story of this book. Overall, very entertaining and adventurous to read and enjoy.… (mais)

A quest type of folktale, translated from the Russian, in which Prince Ivan marries the princess after many adventures. The pictures are pretty, with nice spots of color.

Vasilisa the Beautiful was one of my favorite fairy tales growing up due to the richness of detail in most versions I encountered. This is no different - everything from Baba Yaga's three servants to the skull light is there where it belongs.

The art fits the words perfectly... though I will say the texture of the paper is a bit odd. Isn't that a strange thing to complain about, though?
