Dysfunctional families, deeply flawed characters, gritty relationships: my shelves are littered with lots of lit fic.
You’ll also find a decent collection of epic stories steeped in literary and mythological shades: anything with Shakespearean or Jungian or ancient Grecian allusions.
Tucked between those heavier, darker tomes are shelved some lighter, feel-good reads: romance and magical realism and anything with pretty, lyrical language.
And regardless of genre, these topics tend to also make their way to a place on my shelves: books about writers, academia and the arts, and books with a strong connection to place.

I’m both a wanderer and a collector of stories: In college, I serendipitously wandered into the English department where I discovered a world I instantly fell in love with, a world that led me into the high school English classroom for 16 years. I’ve since wandered into the corporate world, living a completely different life. While my new reality is much less literary during my work hours, books continue to be an essential part of my everyday.
