Travel books with extreme vivid imagery and poetic perception

It can be written by a naturalist, an anthropologist, a wanderer, whatever.
I like descriptions of the fauna, flora, climate and people, all together.
If it's a book that has the presence of natives, I prefer that the traveler has a good relationship with them.

How about Notebooks from New Guinea? — maybe more of a science book than strictly a travel book, but I think it ticks most of your boxes. Novotny talks a lot about the pleasure of working together with local people on his entomology projects.
