Wow. Just finished War on the Border: Villa, Pershing, the Texas Rangers, and the Invasion of America. Wow. Why was this never taught in history classes? I found this fascinating. I lived in Tucson in the late 80s and wondered why there was a statue of Pancho Villa downtown. I am still wondering after reading this.

I have an interest in the history of the American Southwest and have been annoyed that its history is barely mentioned in high school history classes (at least in the eastern part of the country). I had heard of Pancho Villa as a Mexican version of Robin Hood, but had the time frame in my head wrong. I had no idea that he lived and was famous for his exploits during World War I.

I learned a lot from reading this book. The current border problems make a lot more sense to me now. I highly recommend this book.
