1st book in Lexi Carmichael series. She's a computer geek who works for the NSA and has a boring life and a fixation with fast food. Her best friend Basia disappears and sends Lexi a package that starts a slightly intriguing investigation. Lexi's hacker friends (Zimmerman twins) help her gather info and she's approached by two different gorgeous guys who are befriending her for dubious reasons and trying to find Basia too. Threats from outside entities, gun play, shady government people, murder, and a little romance top the book off. It was a bit of an unbelievable plot and story but enough to stay interesting. I will read the 2nd in the series to see if it improves. ( )

Her life is predictable going to the office every day until a friend disappears and Lexi finds herself in an active investigation. Lexi gets help from friends that speak the language of computer networks and finds herself confronted by gun carrying dangerous thugs. Will her training be enough for her to survive, let alone find her friend?

An entertaining mystery and suspense where Lexi finds herself working with two different handsome men to find her friend. But are they both on the same side or are they just using her to find Basia?
I loved Lexi’s non-stop attitude and her dedication to her friend. The book was a little longer than I’m used to at 489 pages in the paperback copy. That’s probably why I waited so long to finally read it. I’m glad I did and I’m looking forward to reading more adventures and if there will be romance or not and what kind of trouble she stirs up. ( )

Hilarious, outrageous and utterly relatable. Lexi Carmichael is a tech geek with looks that go with it. Her personality is dynamite. The author has the rate ability to make you laugh out loud at Lexi's antics. I thoroughly enjoyed it. ( )

I had never read anything by Julie Moffett but after hearing so much about the Lexi Carmichael series I knew I had to try it. I was not disappointed. This book is so funny you can't help but fall in love with the characters and hang on waiting to see how Lexi was going to get herself out of her next scrape.
The fact that Lexi is a smart geek girl only adds to the appeal of this series. She is an analyst for the NSA and doesn't need a hero to save the day.
Can't wait to read more of these books ( )

Well, this stayed unexpectedly action-packed start to finish so was fun (particularly when turning to the James Bond international espionage drawing in MI-6, CIA, FBI, NSA...).

I enjoyed the read.

Not sure it's what I'd consider Young Adult. Lots of romantic possibilities with yummy men (not what I'd consider a love triangle, thank goodness -- but definitely a PG or less explicitness so maybe that accounts for the "YA"? Lexi is an independent adult with degree, steady job, own home, not a teenager, not a 18-24 college student or new adult, not in any academy type of setting -- pretty much not seeing where this is YA.

Which is a good thing; YA is a love/hate for me with many great books but far more angst-y, clueless, high school-ish, and loveg ringlets.

Read for the booklikes' YA Book Club; I think it may have been just me unless someone has yet to join in or post.
