This was just a little too quaint for me. I got through the first book, but I think that's it for this series.

Charlotte Bessette, owner of the Fromagerie Cheese Shop, is helping her best friend, Meredith, throw a fund-raiser to create a liberal arts college out of an abandoned winery. The winery is rumored to have some lost treasure hidden somewhere on the prooerty. When Meredith's niece, an art student and some of her friends arrive for the event/art exhibition, there is much drama between them, ending in a shocking death.

Many of the characters seemed a bit one-dimensional in this one and were frequently annoying. Meredith was quite scatterbrained and was constantly barging into the police chief's office to give her opinion on the identity of the murderer. I enjoyed the first book in the series much more than this one. On the positive side, the series has some really interesting titles. ( )

The addition of Sylvie, Matthew's ex-wife, was not a positive one. Charlotte thinking that just ripping up a court order nullified it was annoying. The three college guys in the story were not believable characters. Rebecca is fairly entertaining. I like the amount of description, especially having just finished a book (Death of a Crabby Cook) with a dearth of such description. ( )

This series is interesting but often introduces too many new characters at once. After I got most of them straightened out it was an very good story. Between a play being put on by her grandmother, running her cheese shop and her best friends plans to open a new college, Charlotte is busy running in circles. The last thing she needs is get involved in another murder, yet, there she is.

Plenty of suspects, lots of motive and pretty good red-herrings to keep you from figuring out the killer.
I'll keep reading this series. ( )

Super sleuth and cheese shop owner, Charlotte Bessette is hosting a party with various wines and cheese dishes, at the old Ziegler Winery that is to be turned into a local arts college. All the local dignitaries are in attendance along with a smattering of students and potential financial donors.

The frivolity and search for missing treasure rumored to be buried on the grounds of the old winery come to a quick halt when the body of one of the students is found strangled to death in the bulding during the party.

As they turn over all stones, including some precious ones, to get the bottom of the mystery Aames keeps us thoroughly entertained with a cast of superb characters brought back from her previous novel in the seies, along with her succulent cheese dishes (many of which can be locared in mouth-watering receipes at the end of the book.

As enthralling as any Miss Marple cozie the Cheese Shop Mysteries have found their niche, and woud be as much in place in your kitchen as in your library. ( )
