Raather an anti-military than an anti-war film which ravages the viewer's emotions, Stanley Kubrick's POG reveals the arrogance and power politics of the military mind in its willingness to sacrifice men's lives in the pursuit of egoism and advancement. An undisputed high point in movie history ( ) WWI soldiers are tried for cowardice. Its whole point is that it has Something To Say, and that always annoys me. It's very well made, although (apart from the cinematography) not exceptional. I was able to get into it and enjoy it at times. But mostly it beats you over the head.
