In this"astonishing and glorious" (USA Today) romance from the bestselling Sharla Lovelace, a woman returns to her Texas hometown and rediscovers the meaning of true love... In the small town of Bethany, Texas, Dani never fit in. Being different pushed her to the fringes of society, and even leaving town for two decades didn’t stop the talk. Now she’s back, trying to settle in with her daughter and have a normal life. But the men in her life might not make it that simple. First, there’s her old friend Alex. He’s mischievous, sexy, and still hot enough to melt her shoes. And he’s a ghost—a real one, who’s always been there for her when she most needed him. Of course, there are actual men in Bethany, too. Like Jason with his hard body. Dani seems to have a habit of running into him—literally. Now she must decide between a man who long ago touched her heart and a man she can actually touch…… (mais)

*I received a copy of this book via Goodreads Giveaways*

This is a story that pulls you in. I was worried it might be slightly boring at first, a mom who has to go back to living in the town she grew up in because she lost her job.

But there are definitely twists and turns that made this story anything but boring. Dani, the main character can see, and talk to ghosts. And her best friend happens to be one.

When you read on to find out why she and Alex are so drawn to each other, it's unexpected. And it gave me chills.

There's more than a fair share of high school drama in the book. Both from past and present generations. Though it seems that Riley's (Dani's daughter) generation handles it with more grace than their parents did.

There's a bit of romance between Dani and her boss that feels a bit cliche. I probably only think that because I was rooting for her and Alex, even though it wasn't a possibility.

There are some intense scenes involving sex, so if that makes you squeamish, then this bok isn't for you.

There's also a reference to Charmed, which gave me a little chuckle, but as a whole the book left me with a few tears. Such a good read.

This book took me on a whirl wind of emotions. At first I wasn't sure about it based on the book jacket. But once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. The jacket didn't do it justice! This book will keep you hoping and praying and feeling. It pulled at my heart strings.

Dani was tormented her entire childhood because she could talk to ghosts. Now she has been forced to move back to the small town that drove her away for decades. Now she has found out that her daughter can talk to them too. She is pulled in many directions. The ghost who has haunted her her entire life, who she has a deep connection to, her new boss who tends to be hot and cold at the same time, her daughter talking to those that others can't see, and all of her "ghosts" from her past trying to make her life hell like they did in high school. Not everything is as simple as it seems. The twists and turns will have you wanting more and more. ( )

Lovelace is now on my 'buy every book she writes' list.
Do you remember the movie, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir?
Picture that, in modern day, in the South, with a sassy quirky voice.

Oh, and a second love interest - a living one.

Unforgettable characters that ring true-as-life.
A plot and voice that scoops you up, and doesn't let you stop until you're crying at the end.

Lovelace is an amazing storyteller.

Do yourself a favor, and read this!

The Reason Is You is the first book I've read by Sharla Lovelace. I have to admit before I read the book, I heard good things about it. But hearing those good things didn’t even come close to the book itself.

The Reason Is You, is touching, emotional, romantic and a little intense. While you aren't going to need a box of tissue nearby while reading this story, you will need to have a few Kleenex around.

I won't say I was immediately drawn into the book but once it had my full attention, I was hooked. I fell in love with Alex "The Ghost" Stone immediately. His backstory is heartbreaking and will completely touch your heart. Dani Shane is so much more than she gives herself credit for. She's a forty-year-old single mother to sixteen-year-old daughter Riley. Riley and Dani definitely have their moments in this book, but the relationship is amazing. Dani met Alex when she was sixteen-years-old and he has been her best friend ever since.

One of my favorite quotes from the book sums up love and is a little bit raw and in your face: "You want some reason advice about love? That 'love is perfect' drivel from the Bible is only for God. Not people. Love is messy, complicated, irritating, gut wrenching, and all about giving up something for someone else. There are no rainbows and roses. There's piss on the toilet and razor stubble in the sink."

The Reason Is You is a touching story about friendship, love, and learning that it's okay to be different. I'm not a person who usually reads a story more than once. But this is a story I will definitely read again.
