[I’d thought of them as opposites, foils, you know, like Hamlet and Laertes, or something. “I’m Captain Extrovert!” “Well I’m Captain Introvert!” Actually this *opens the question* of whether the parallels argument is just us *being modern*, or center-left, or something. “Old Russia and New Russia; Pharisees and prodigals, ascetic and sensual—is it really different?”
