Henderson Yellowstone Romance #1 Aimee Donovan is an E.R. nurse in 2010 when she meets an older patient, Zachariah Osborne, who entertains her with tales of old-timer mountain men. As she loves backpacking in Yellowstone and has taken several courses in outdoor survival and back country cooking, she eats up his stories. He tells her he comes from 200 years in the past and can send her back there to live the life for herself. He gives her three months and then he will come for her and return her to the future. She agrees, not really believing him, of course, but loving the idea of the possibility of it nonetheless. When she wakes up in the Madison River Valley in Yellowstone, she has to quickly face her new reality--where her number one priority is now survival. Aimee finds herself in more than one life-threatening situation. Fortunately, she is spotted by local native peoples who are scouting new hunting grounds. One in particular, Elk Runner, grew up with a white fur trapper, Daniel Osborne (who just so happens to be Zachariah's son) and alerts him to a "crazy white woman" wandering around the wilderness. They rescue her and return her to Daniel's cabin, where he receives endless ribbing from his brother, Elk Runner, about how he should take her as his wife. Daniel is against the idea of taking any white woman as a wife because a troubled past has made him cynical, but when offers start coming in from outside parties to barter for her, Daniel is surprised to feel possessive toward her. Although they are both fighting their mutual attraction from their first meeting, they are hesitant to fall in love, each for their own reasons, so there is a slow build-up to a romantic relationship. Aimee is bound by a promise made to Zachariah, and Daniel is bound by honor not to touch her because he believes she still belongs to another. Aimee has the burden of knowing she will have to leave Daniel after her three months is up, and he is having a hard time trusting her because he knows she is keeping secrets from him. Choices are made which cause repercussions that could ruin their chance at love. Even though Aimee had assured Zachariah when they first met that she was capable of surviving in the wild, I really find it hard to believe he would think anyone from modern times--man or woman--could make it on their own 200 years in the past. I seriously doubt a man from that time period would put a woman to the test in that way. So that part takes a real suspension of disbelief and if nothing else, makes me really dislike Zach. That was pretty unforgivable. Despite that, this is an excellent story. The descriptions of the landscape bring it to life. Yellowstone and Wyoming itself are so beautiful in today's world; it must have been breathtaking back in the early 1800s before it became touched by so many humans. The perfection of how both Daniel and Aimee fit into their place in the world and belong together, the interesting take on how the time-travel trope is used, the dialogue and pacing of their story. And there is an interesting surprise twist thrown in. So very well done. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

Aimee Donovan is a nurse in the year 2010. She meets Zach Osborne, eccentric old man who tells her he can send her 200 years in the past to 1810, Yellowstone and then he will pick her back up in 3 months. She packs a backpack thinking it all one big joke and much to her surprise she finds herself in the middle of a field in Yellowstone as promised. Zach told her to seek out his son Daniel Osborne so she sets out to do just that. But things go awry and Daniel ends up saving her.
The last thing Daniel ever expected or wanted to find was a white woman in the Yellowstone wilderness. Daniel has no knowledge of his father's time travels and for all appearances it seems like Aimee just fell out of the sky to him. He isn't sure what to do with the woman but surely she couldn't survive in the wilderness?
A very interesting read with adventure and love! ( )
