Courtney Cole had me hooked and wanting more.

The prologue is what completely piqued my interest. You have a woman trying to help the man she has fallen for. The "darkness" is a scary place for Luca, and he can't remember what happened.

Eva is trying to finish her dissertation in on of her favorite childhood places. She has an odd run in with Luca, and becomes instantly infatuated. Eva started getting on my nerves about half way through the book. She goes from a strong independent woman to extremely needy and emotional. There are reasons for this though that are completely valid. it's crazy how love makes you behave.

The characters were easy to relate to, and still have opportunity to grow. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Malta is a small coastal town with very friendly people.

The story line was set at a great pace. It wasn't rushed or choppy. It flowed easily. And the steamy scenes, oh my.... ;) They were hawt. (It deserves a misspelling. :P) There are a couple of difficult topics, but I think the events added to who the characters are as individuals.

The ending left me thinking, "what the eff!" But I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel. It's a great book with awesome writing. :D ( )

When I started getting into the book I thought oh my it's a paranormal book and Luca is a Werewolf arghhhh . But because I was already into it and I'm not a quitter so I forged ahead.
Half way through I had a light bulb moment and thought he's not a werewolf and I can't tell you what was in that light bulb because turns out my bulb moment was correct.
There aren't to many hot steamy sex scenes but the few of them that happen are Hot- Nothing raunchy or too detailed. Lots of mystery & trying to walking away from Love.
This book has a lot of elements- Mystery, Murder, Love, Friendship, etc.....
The ending is good but it sets us up for the next book.
Not sure when the next book will come out at the end of the book it say Winter 2012 but I found on the Author Courtney Coles website that book 2 will be out in Spring 2013.
You will be ok with the ending so don't worry about reading it and jonesing for more right away.

For some reason, the synopsis above was nothing like what I pictured the book to be. In a lot of ways, that is good. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I found myself submersed into this book; the plot, the characters, and the mystery behind it all.

I really enjoyed the character Eva most of the time (towards the end of the book I started to lose that feeling.) She was driven, smart, charming, and knew exactly what she wanted in life, to finish her dissertation. However, that want was thrown slightly off course when she meets Luca Minaldi. Handsome Luca Minaldi.

Cole writes about a deep, dark secret that Minaldi men have suffered from that had me wondering what really was going on throughout the first half of the story. That wondering had me tapping through the pages (it was an ebook) and finishing this book in less than a day. Eva knows that she can help Luca and while she tries, a bond is formed between them.

I will say that I started to lose momentum during the last part of the book. I don’t know if it was because I had already guess what was going on or if the character Eva was just really starting to get on my nerves, maybe even both. However, I will say that it was a good read and it kept me entertained.
