My only complaint is the book was much too long and I found myself skimming a number of sections, antsy to get this one over with near the end. I also wished some of the magic would have been delved into more. ( ) Author's guest post at my blog: https://bookfare.blogspot.com/2020/01/foodfic-please-welcome-elaine-calloway.htm... Walking the New Orleans streets, the Elementals search for the Minare, the Fallen Angels, but Brooke, a Water Elemental has an even more important mission of her own, to save her human family, and everything about the book made me want to read it, though, I did have some trouble with Ella, until I let my mind go and the fantasy take me where it will. See more at http://www.fundinmental.com Water's Blood takes you through the streets of New Orleans, giving you the feel and vibe of a one of a kind city even if you've never been yourself. Author Elaine Calloway clearly knows her way around. She also knows her way around keeping people real. Yes, her Elementals are super-natural beings but they're a lot like the rest of us. When's the last time any of us read a paranormal where the hero/es weren't something so far ahead of humanity that we couldn't relate if we had to. I found it immensely refreshing to read about character's who didn't ooze unique powers every other scene. The character's of Water's Blood have their gifts, their limitations, and have to function all too often the way we mere mortals have to. This story wove together a number of story lines (paranormal, family, young teen, romance, contemporary) in a way that makes most publishers nervous. They simply don't know what shelf to put it on. My Kindle doesn't care about shelves. And I find I like the new feel this book evokes. Until you step out of the easily labeled genres, you don't realize how much feels predictable. Three elements to go. Here's to keeping us guessing. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
