{my thoughts} - This book was based on one girls quest to save her school from a massacre. Nicole Janicek and her friend Candice go on a hiking trip that results in her having a strange dream that warns her a school shooting is going to take place. The individual involved is a boy named Adam Upton. The dream gives her specific instructions, however she isn’t sure how real the dream was of if she should take it seriously.

This book is wonderfully written. It is a masterpiece. I think it should on every English teacher’s to read list. It helps not only to show how terrible things can be when people make poor decisions, but also shows the consequences of those actions. I think that if more people knew that that poor choices they make without considering the consequence of their actions and what can become of them.

This book was a roller coaster of emotions for me. I went from being happy, to relieved, to sad and crying a lot while reading this book. It is a fast read and and very relevant to today’s society given the issues with school shootings that have been taking place. It makes me sad to know that people are capable of such horror, however as this book shows you shouldn’t always judge a person based on their outward appearance. It always helps to get to know someone and where they come from, then make a judgment. It also shows that rash choices don’t always end well. All and all – I think it is a must read book! ( )

i adored it and have actually loaned it to a friend i recommend it to everyone. Unfortunately the signed copy I loaned to my friend burned when her house burned due to lightning in a storm so I no longer have it. It was indeed a great read though. ( )

This review was originally posted on my blog Little Miss Reader

I received an ARC of this through netgalley

At first I wasn't too sure about this one, but somehow I clicked the "request" button and a couple of hours later I was accepted - so I obviously felt I had to read it. And I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I liked the message the story sends, that we have to befriend everyone, even the ones who are different, no matter what that difference is. I feel like this is a book a lot of US children could benefit from.

I loved Nikki's character, this honour student who has blue stripes in her hair, loves to hike and is overall not afraid of anything. For once we have a female main character who aren't our "normal" mc, she is different - a great kind of different. She is a rolemodel and her courage is inspirational.

In a way I liked Candace and in another way I didn't. She had a similar personality to Nikki, but she was also entirely different. She didn't want to befriend Adam - she actually tried to persuade Nikki out of it. But Candace was still a great friend for Nikki, she stood up for her and I admire her for that.

I liked the overall story, the fact that Nikki has this "hero" or "savior" role and she has to save Adam from the path he's going towards. I thought the first few chapters was pretty weird, since she has this dream that tells her she has to save Adam, but I thought it was a great way to get the story going. I liked that the pace of their new friendship was that of a normal one and not quickly-evolving because she has to save him. She actually starts getting to know who Adam is, and he starts realising that not all people are bad.

I think this story sends a very powerful and important message, I admire the author for writing a story that will be so emotional for some people and can mean nothing to others. I adore the author for creating a heroine that is different and good without it being too much.
Even though I think all those things and feel all those feelings I still had to give this book 3 hearts because I felt that something was missing and I only connected to a single character. ( )

As much as I wanted to absolutely love this book, I couldn't. Doesn't mean I didn't like it though. Nicole or 'Nikki', is a hiker. In the beginning of the book, she was hiking with her friend Candace, and she has a dream that changes lives. Her dream is about two boys, Adam and Thomas, killing people at their high school. Another high school shooting, much like many that have happened in the past. The dream tells her to be-friend this boy, Adam, and change his life, change his mind so that he doesn't go through with the plan. It's a good idea, but I'm not totally sure that would happen in real life. Once people are set on something, they don't really change their minds that easily. I guess I could happen with someone who has minimal people skills, and doesn't really fit in with anyone else. The two boys come up with this plan after being bullied for many years, I'm assuming. It happens. That's what happens when you're bullied for any amount of time, but mostly for a long time. It shouldn't be happening, and this book proves it. It's a sweet book, and I hoped that Adam and Nikki do end up dating, but that doesn't happen. Doesn't make me sad though. Thanks to netgalley for allowing me to read this book on them.

Thanks for reading, I'll leave this link here for you to click. :D
