I liked this one but I was certain that I had picked up a book in the middle of a series. Imagine my surprise when I discovered this was the first in the series. I see that there were 3 mini prequels but I think that a first book shouldn't be dependent on ebook prequels in order to understand what is going on. Maybe there was nothing in the prequels that was pertinent to this story in which case the author really should have made sure the reader didn't feel lost. This one ends on a big cliff hanger and I will be happy to read more books to round out the story. That is to say the mystery ends on a cliff hanger. The romance is pretty well wrapped up. There were a lot of characters here and sometimes I had trouble remembering who was who. The romance was okay but I did feel like the hero was a bit of a ninny for not getting on with his life before 20 years had passed. But I liked the two of them together and I liked the little boy. ( )

I'm not sure what to think about this book. I wasn't aware that there were three novellas before this book and still haven't read them and honestly, I don't think I will. There were so many POVs in this story I kinda got confused. I liked Noah, who is an ex-preacher and alcoholic and is just trying to live his life trying to help teens. Trinity and her son were a nice fit for Noah. They certainly turned his life around for the better. Micah, the son, was my favorite of the book. The sitting was hard for me to see this happening in since I've been to the real Madison countless times. The character of Adam is intriguing and I might read his story, but I'm not sure yet.
