This collection is a decent sampling of the diversity of fantasy, but no story strongly stood out for me. Also, I hope some intense editing gets done because there is a strong need to correct some issues, especially in the first story where there is an issue with the use of the he/she pronoun. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked the stories contained in this anthology. The story tellers really made the stories come to life.I did find that one or two of the stories was on the short side, and a story here and there that didn't remind me of David Gemmell's writing. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. Interesting mix of stories from different periods and settings. Not having read books by David Gemmell probably made be miss a lot of the details, but still quite enjoyable. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
David Gemmell passed away in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of memorable characters, epic settings, and thrilling tales. In 2008 a group of fellow writers and friends led by Deborah J Miller and Stan Nicholls founded the David Gemmell Legend Award in his honour. In 2013, NewCon Press released Legends, an anthology of original stories by some of today¿s leading fantasy authors in honour of a man whose work has so inspired them. We are now proud to announce Legends II, featuring an all new cast of distinguished authors in a volume that fully lives up to the high standards of its predecessor. A dozen tales of fantasy, a dozen shades of styles and a baker's dozen of entertainment. The writing ranges from the familiar Sword and Sorcery such as Gav Thorpe's “The Blessed and the Cursed” and Lou Morgan's “Oak” to the delightfully chaotic “Smokestack Lighting” by by Gavin G. Smith. Editor Ian Whates selected each story to be a delectable morsel beautifully prepared which, when consumed, leaves the reader craving more. Highly recommended for fantasy readers who enjoy variety. ( )
