I would recommend this early chapter book for grades 2-3 who are learning how to read proficiently but are not quite to a normal chapter book level. This book tells the story of King the dog and how he lost his ball over the fence. He believes that a cat with no name stole the ball. This could be useful in my classroom for students who are taking the next step into reading chapter books. King and Kayla are playing with their friends Jillian and Thor when Jillian accidentally throws King's ball over the fence. Kayla goes over the fence and brings back a ball that isn't King's. They both realize that it isn't his ball so the begin to make a list of all the things they know and don't know about the missing ball case. King interrogates a cat and finds out that Mouse took his ball. Later that day, King smells his ball and jumps over the fence and runs inside a strangers house to find the largest and loudest dog he has every seen. His name was Mouse and he had King's ball. It began when the ball Kayla is using to play fletch with her dog King, disappears. Kayla retrieved the ball from next door, but it was not Kings. The two go next door to find the ball. At first, King thinks the cat under the porch took it. The story contains a subtle moral regarding respecting personal property. Children will like the colorful pictures. I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway. Although encouraged, I was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
