Over the past 100 years, Yankees fan have gotten used to winning. The Yankees of 1920s won six pennants in eight years. They were led by Babe Ruth, who changed the way baseball was played with his incredible slugging.
When Yankee Stadium opened 1923, it was the most fantastic sports stadium in America. Some called it a "cathedral of baseball."
The Yankees won the American League pennant 39 times between 1923 and 2005, and went on to win the World Series 26 times―more than any other team.

The Yankees got a young power hitter from the Boston Red Sox. His name was Babe Ruth, and in his first year with the Yankees, he hit 54 home runs―25 more than anyone else in history(See p 6)!

I knew he was a great slugger but I was surprised to know that he hit 25 home runs more than anyone else in the history!

When the team signed Japanese young star Hideki Matsui in 2003, stores in Tokyo sold out of Yankees merchandise in a few days(See p 14).

It's rare case to sold out of merchandise. He is so popular and I like him, too. ( )
