First, it's very much a transitional, middle piece between the first and third stories. While it stands somewhat on its own, it's got a lot of work to do, building on the previous arc, while also setting up the next one. Which leads to the next problem. While there ain't a lot of story here, it also feels really choppy and rushed. Digging down into the characters may have helped to sustain interest and heighten the suspense. Corum didn't really seem to struggle with his new powers as he likely should have. Finally, the switch between Mignola to Guice halfway through probably didn't help either, though Guice did an excellent job of picking up where Mignola left off. Hopefully the final arc of this trilogy will be better. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

As they say challenges get ever more difficult - Corum now needs to fight Arioch's more powerful sister, Xiombarg. And to achieve that he needs to travel through alternative dimensions in order to bring conflict to the Queen of Swords.
And this is where SF starts to mix up with the fantasy, wondrous weapons and technology provided by the City under the Pyramid.
Art is just wonderful, I truly, truly like Mignola in this book. Scenes of Chaos infested land, monsters marching under the rule of Xiombarg, her Champion (antithesis to Corum) and Wolf and the Bear, Demons from Hell...... everything is just beautiful, from composition to pencil and coloring. Excellent, true eye candy.
Highly recommended to fans of heroic fantasy with little bit of SF in it (a-la John Carter/Barsoom). ( )
