I read 7 of the 20 offered this month. I usually pick them based on name recognition, or the author notes that pique my interest. I really liked Jennifer Linnaea's story and I look forward to future publications of her work. -------------------------------------------------
Read:
- More than Instinct by Maggie Slater (2/3) - 4* Great little bit of flash fiction. A mother is struggling getting her new baby to eat. She is not producing enough milk and her baby refuses the bottle. A solution is discovered. Heartbeat racing, she offered her hand. It latched onto her pointer finger.... She knew she would lose herself if she wasn't careful, but a finger? She could spare a finger or two.
- The Girl Without a Spacesuit by Evergreen Lee (2/4) - 4* My goodness that was quick but offered a lot. // A person traveling in space sees a girl without a spacesuit outside their window wanting to come in. ...
- Echo Recovery by Jennifer Linnaea (2/5) - 5* So unique and beautiful. A story about how two humanoid species deal with grief.
- The Epicaricacians by Thomas J. Keller (2/8) - 2.5* A scientist/astronaut/archeologist is discussing what they discovered about the humanoid aliens that lived on a planet and what their demise was.
- What Sadie Saw by Michelle M. Kaseler (2/9) - 4* Virtual reality used to help rebuild crime scenes. Very unique and I got to share a nice surprise along with a character. fun!
- Young Love by Katie Robles (2/15) - 2.5* Futuristic product to help you re-claim that new love feel.
- Trash Fairies by Nina Kiriki Hoffman (2/26) - 3* Typical NKH story style but the not a hit for me personally. A fiddler playing at a political rally, for the free food, notices the purple hue of the punch and the loyalty to the politician it is creating. I guess a play on current events with people seeming to have drunk the Kool-Aid. Would be nice if her song to break the spell was real. -------------------------------------------------
Other stories offered this month: - You Can't Get There From Here by Rex Caleval (2/1) - Found in Translation by J. Kosakowski (2/2) - Generational by Stephen C. Finlay (2/10) - Neither a Borrower by Simon Stanford (2/11) - The Sea Became a Diamond Sheet by William Squirrel (2/12) - Cataclysm Conjugated by James C Cato (2/16) - Onboarding Practices for the Ravaging Horde by E. B. Brandon (2/17) - The Cracks in the Sphere by Mari Ness (2/18) - In the Library of Longing by Xan van Rooyen (2/19) - Jupiter Stone by Kelly A Jacobson (2/22) - Things From Our Kitchen Junk Drawer That Could Save This Spaceship by Marie Vibbert (2/23) - Gaslight Gourmet by Sarah Totton (2/24) - Visitation Rites by Joshua Alexander (2/25) ( )
