-- A Lonesome Speck of Home by Beth Cato - 4*
That was a fun story. I'd like to read it to a grandchild some day.
The last man still living in his destroyed neighborhood is our MC and he is witnessing regular fights between 2 giant aliens. The government can't help so after another alien lies in the desert destroyed, he goes to investigate with the help of his grandson. What he discover is really going on is quite entertaining and his 80 years of life experience helps him navigate what needs to be done.
After this story make sure you google for and read INSTRUCTIONS by Bob Leman
-- Makeisha in Time by Rachael K. Jones - 5*

That story was amazing. I enjoyed every moment in the story. I can feel that growing urge to find everything she has written and see what I have been missing out on my whole life. This StarShipSofa version was read by Stefan Rudnicki. I could listen to him read a shopping list and be pleased.
What can I say without spoiling any of it? A woman whose "base" is in our time keeps traveling back in time. Moments here when she is "suffering a migraine" are lifetimes in another time.
It has an abrupt ending which makes perfect sense but I want more, more, more!
