Read:
-- Look Away by Marissa Kristine Lingen (5/4) - 2.5* A little above my head but the author is working through how we "look away" from things that don't effect us directly, whether physically or emotionally. There is a an alien testing our looking away ability or something.
-- The Day After the Rapture by Judith Clare (5/6) - 1.5* Christian type fantasy. It hit an annoyance button for me. Some supernatural event will save us from these "Trumpers". That day will never come, we have to do something but this is fiction and that is where we can live in fantasy so ymmv with the story.
-- Things Remembered At Thirty Thousand Feet Above Sea Level by Lauren Ring (5/10) - DNF Told in a numbered list format. There were two main focuses, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and dealing with mother's Alzheimer's. I would consider it more poetic or allegorical which is not my reading preference so ymmv.
-- House Hunting by Lisa Mason (5/12) - DNF A family is literally house hunting. Too humorous for me and outside my reading interest. ymmv
-- The Day Before the Wall Street Inferno by Lora Gray (5/17) - 3.5* clever, I'm a fan of ironic endings. The author notes caught my interest. They said the story came while watching clouds. Why this particular dragon story? Makes me snicker and shake my head because I don't understand why they jumped up to write this particular story. I want to go stare at clouds now. I don't think I'd come up with a story though. Not my talent.
-- Pros and Cons of Spending the First Weeks of Your Son's Life in the NICU by Timothy Mudie (5/19) - 3* What a talent authors have for turning their experiences into little daydreams they can share with others. I'm so envious.
Other stories from this month: -- The Numbers by Susan Taitel (5/3) -- The Plowshare by Jon Michael Hansen (5/5) -- Remote by Kaoru Sakasaki, translated by Toshiya Kamei (5/7) -- Prototype Dino 1 by Mary E. Lowd (5/11) -- The Trap by Matt Cowan (5/13) -- Safe as Houses by Avra Margariti (5/14) -- Too Cuddly by Mary E. Lowd, Author notes: "You can read more about Maradia's robots in my trilogy, The Entangled Universe (5/18) -- Love Letters by James Mitchell (5/20) -- Lost Between the Plates by Benjamin Abbott (5/21) -- Not Mature Enough for That by Michael Collard (5/24) -- Twelve Days of Snow on Crossroads Station by Mary E. Lowd Author notes: "You can read more about Maradia's robots in my trilogy, The Entangled Universe (5/25) Her 3rd story this month alone! wow! -- What's in a Name by Sarah G Matthews (5/26) -- Lead With "The Dog Lives" by Meg Candelaria (5/27) -- A Blind Eye by M. H. Ayinde (5/28) -- Pining For My Demons by Floris M. Kleijne (5/31) His 11th for DSF.com( )
