Read:
-- The Living by Sarah Kanning (7/1) - 3* a man visits a sim environment to relive some time with his wife. she had and must have got an assisted death. In his sim environment he is asking her to stay.
-- Nightcrawlers by Zack Lux (7/7) - 4* a light, maybe alien light is appearing in the sky, brighter by the day. there is a character who analogies it to catching nightcrawlers. If you spook them, they all disappear. You have to sneak up on them.
-- Ten Years In by Thea Boodhoo (7/20) - 5* Really good bit of flash fiction. I look forward to more stories by her. Bake shop, magic potions, love. (The story reminds me of a favorite author Beth Cato)
-- Eat you Up by Shannon Fay (7/23) - 5* Another good bit of flash fiction. (This one has me thinking of another favorite author Rich Larson) Some people buy the experience of eating a new food all over again. Our MC keeps some experiences all to herself.
-- Halfers by Chris Hobson (7/28) - 1* A letter to a liberal from a conservative or maybe a letter from a conservative to a liberal, written to their spouse about why they are going into hiding with the other liberal/conservatives. All told as vampire story instead of a lib/cons *shrugs*.
-- Cheat Day by J. Bear McKenna (7/29) - 2- Quick bit of flash fiction. The author note says he used to be a vegetarian and sometimes he worries that the fact he eats meat will come back to bite him. I'm kinda confused because it seems like veggies are the issue in the story.
-- In Good Taste by AE Smith (7/30) - DNF The author notes make it sound interesting but I didn't enjoy the story telling methods so decided to quit.
Other stories this month: -- Friendship Is Magic by Nina Kiriki Hoffman (7/2) -- Seven Unbreakable Rules for Robot Butlers by Christopher Zerby (7/5) -- Total Lockdown by Andy McKell (7/6) -- Infinitely in All Directions by Willow Gatewood (7/8) -- Cavesong by Jennifer R. Povey (7/9) -- Three Truths and Three Lies About Jack by Andrea Eberly (7/12) -- Selling One's Self on a Multi-Dimensional Marketing Scheme by Steven Berger (7/13) -- When You Came Back by Lynette Mejía (7/14) -- Time Machines by Melissa Mead (7/15) -- Are You Real by Ian E Gonzales (7/16) -- A Garden of Snakes and Stone by K. Shefferd (7/19) -- The Old Woman and the Tea by Marie Brennan (7/21) -- Lamplighted by David Gianatasio (7/22) -- So You Want to Reach the Witch at the Edge of the Void by Mari Ness (7/26) -- Dependency Graph by L. M. Lu (7/27) ( )
