This book was a bit of a step down from the first book in my opinion. While they were both written in similar styles I felt like the first book was more wild and entertaining while this book was more grown up and slow. In the first novel we saw Alexis living the university life and dealing with relationship drama. In this book we see the aftermath, which means Alexis making adult decisions and having to be "mature".
While I liked this book, I didn't find it to be very thrilling. There wasn't as much action and drama as the first novel, and I could see the ending coming from a mile away. I preferred the first novel where twists and turns happened and I didn't see them coming.
For a sequel, it was good. The story was continued and there weren't any parts that didn't fit into the story. Characters we met in the first book had their arcs continued and put to a conclusion. There are some questions left at the end of the book that could lead to a third novel, but there wasn't much left to question. Many of the characters get an ending that doesn't seem to need another novel for.
I did like this book, but I would not suggest it as a stand-alone novel. I would suggest readers pick up the first novel first or else they might be confused.
Overall, I was impressed with the novel. I would have liked more unexpected and unanticipated twists and turns but the novel was great.
