"The Top Job" was a very cute and exciting book for children. This book was truly an eye opener that something does not have to seem interesting or cool for it to be interesting or cool. The students did not want to hear about the protagonist's father changing a light bulb because that was not as cool as what the other parents did. But the protagonist did not give up, she knew her dad's job was cool so she kept talking. This book would invite students to use their imagination as our protagonist did. She used her imagination and took from the other parents' jobs that were very cool and found a way to incorporate it into her own story. ( )

This book is about some kids taking about their parent's work on class. Their parents have so many different interesting jobs. As for "me", the little girl, her father's work is to change the lightbulb. She introduced her father's job is to climb on the top of the Empire State Building.

It's a contemporary realistic fiction since the story told from the little girl's aspect was created by the author. The story was based on today's real live although the plots are not real. All the characters in this book are ordinary people like us.

Summary: It career day and all the students are listening to each and every student talk about their parents career. When a young girl comes up she tell father career day and how it all starts. She begins what their normal routine is in the morning then through out the day. Though what people don't notice is that her fathers exciting job is a light bulb changer but this is not a typical one. He changes the light bulb of tall buildings like the empire state building. In the end all the kids are so astonished by what her father does and they think its an awesome job.
Review: I love the book as it shows that we should be to quick to judge someone job. It has easy context and easy message to understand.

This is about a girl who shares her Dad's career on career day. At first no one is interested because she tells the class that her Dad changes lightbulbs. She then goes into detail about how actually he Dad changes lightbulbs in the Empire State building and has to climb thousands of feet to give electricity to huge monuments. She says she gets to help her Dad and immediately the class becomes interested. He even gets to wash glass on Lady Liberty. The class is so intrigued by her story and she is so proud of what her Dad does and how she gets to help him with his job. This book is an example of a modern fantasy book. ( )
