The author reminisces about the times she double-dutched with her friends and what Double Dutch jumproping meands to girls as far as teamwork, coordination, and a sense of sisterhood. Touches somewhat on history and competitions but is more of a personal paean to the sport. Would have liked to know more about teams and the surge of interest in Japan. This book starts off telling the meaning of double dutch. After, Veronica tells her story as a child and how much she enjoyed playing double dutch with her friends. She talked about all the different songs that were singed as they jumped rope to make the game more exciting. In this book she also interviewed girls they talked about their childhood memories and how much they enjoyed double dutch also. "Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around. Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground..." I can remember jumping rope at recess to the rhythm of funny rhymes, counting beats, and seeing who could do the craziest tricks. Can you imagine jumping rope as a group? The story of Double Dutch is a celebration of this type of jump rope. As you read, author Veronica Chambers brings readers back to her childhood neighborhood and discusses the role Double Dutch has played in her life as well as the lives of many, many others. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
