Op de lagere school hadden wij nog een toverlantaarn waar je plaatje per plaatje keek en dan luisterde naar het verhaal wat in het bijgeleverde boekje stond. Een tophit op de meester's verjaardag, want deze film duurde de hele middag. Het is via dit boek dat ik verliefd werd op Zweden en dat mijn zoon Niels heet. Hij lijkt ook een beetje op de Niels uit het boek, ondeugend maar uiteindelijk met een hart vol goud.
