The book's poem consists of four nouns per page in rhyming couplets. There isn't really a plot--a girl is shown leaving home, but is she playing/imagining, or is this a "real" journey? Still, the rhythm is pleasant and the art is beautiful. Probably best for very young children. ( ) I dunno. The illustrations were mostly just too dark for me, not metaphorically gloomy but actually *dark* for my aging eyes. The rhyme is fun, but it feels like a playground chant, not like actual poetry. The gimmick overwhelms the sense - everything has to be in sets of four, and chosen to support the rhyme, which means the 'story' has to be painstakingly deciphered. I cannot imagine sharing this small quiet artsy book with an entire class or story-time. It might work for lapsit, in sunlight, with the right reader and audience. It certainly is pretty. This is a story for children between the ages of 5-8 who are beginning to learn rhyming words. This book is very good for students because it group four words together that are in relation to each other, and then it groups another four in which the last word rhymes with the first group of words. This will help younger students understand words that are related such as eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and it also helps them understand what types of words sound alike such as mouth and south. The text in this book is composed of rhyming sequences of four -noun lines: "fork plate knife spoon/east west north south." The young girl in the story embarks on a dreamy imaginative journey that takes her across water and sky. After entertaining a few animals, she finally returns home to her family. This is a fun rhyming game for kids and it will stimulate their minds to think of their own words. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
