Started great (i loved the pig-dogs) but eventually devolved into sheer absurdist nonsense. ( ) This wasn't what I expected it to be. I thought it would be pictures interspersed with text, similar to Motel of the Mysteries, but it was a straight out graphic novel. It is part of a series commissioned by the Louvre. In the far future, a group of humans and genetically modified dogs are exploring glacier-covered Europe, and discover the Louvre, which has been buried in the ice. They piece together various unscientific theories about the meanings of the works of art in the museum. The art-related story was much more engaging than the human interaction aspect of the book. Physically, I found it a little difficult to read, because the drawings were intricate but dim, and the print small, so I ended up taking off my glasses and holding the book very close. The great works of art are beautifully integrated into the story. I don't know yet whether I will keep this or not, because there were things that fascinated me, and other things that I really disliked. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

In this fanciful and richly imaginative story, one of the most original and important young European comic artists imagines a frozen world thousands of years hence in which all human history has been forgotten. A small group of archaeologists come upon the Louvre, buried in age-old snow, and cannot begin to explain all of the artifacts they see. Their interpretations of the wonders before them strike a humorous, absurd, and farcical tone. One of the few books coedited by the Louvre, this graphic novel features stunning illustrations as it presents a unique vision of the great museum. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
