These transcripts are of the same meetings that are documented in William Patrick Patterson's book entitled Voices in the Dark but they are, evidently, unabridged. I have verified this to some extent and I intend to do a closer comparison. For instance, it is obvious that some possibily controversial material has been excluded from the latter book but included in these Transcripts. That doesn't really matter to me as I enjoyed Patterson's book when it came out in 2000. But it is good to have the more complete transcripts that allow one to get closer to what Gurdjieff said and what he advised his followers to do from meeting to meeting. It is a book that warrents more than one reading as otherwise it is difficult to get an overall grasp of Gurdjieff's advice. There are books that provide a general account of Gurdjieff's ideas. Perhaps it would be better to read these Transcripts first. It has taken a long time for this book to emerge. I am pleased it has but it is strange that no one is taking the credit. ( )
