It's really a 2.5.Helena is a sub who has spent years "playing" at BDSM. Never having really been trained, she doesn't really understand what the lifestyle is supposed to be about. After being mistreated by an abusive Dom, she has retreated from the world and herself. T.K. sees what Helena is doing and is determined to help her learn to trust and to embrace a true submissive lifestyle.This story was okay. It's the final book in Barron's Tygers series and serves to tie up a loose end--what happens to Helena after she is rescued. Unlike the other books in the series, this one doesn't include any mystery/suspense. The only conflict is Helena's internal conflict trying to overcome her bad experience. To be honest, this series has me burned out on BDSM stories for the time being. The scenes in this one weren't as uncomfortable as in the previous book, but I have many, many questions about the relationship between the two characters. I only see T.K. wanting her to be servile and submit to him. Yes, he is kind when she uses her safe word, but do these two have anything in common other than BDSM? I can't tell from the story. The author doesn't build her characters in a way that lets me know personal details that would make the characters seem to be a good fit for each other. All you see is the D/s side. I wonder, do they ever just talk about a movie? Do they ever just do anything for fun or discuss a book? The relationship just doesn't seem real to me. ( )
