There are three reasons why I liked this book. Firstly, because this book is a search and find book, it is very interactive. I think children off all ages would have fun finding the animals. When the page is turned there is a new scene that takes up both pages filled with animals and plants and a check list of things to find. For example, on the rainforest page, the checklist includes butterflies, monkeys, and turtles. The pages also have of the animal depicted in the scene under an illustration. The second reason I liked this books was because on every page was a “Find Out More” page number. The “Find Out More” section is essentially an index with more information about the animals on the corresponding pages. For example, more information was given on dinosaurs; including, “Apatosaurus ate plants without chewing them. It swallowed stones to help grind up the food in its stomach.” Finally, the last reason I liked this book was the illustrations. A lot of informational books use realistic pictures with alongside the information. The information and activities in this book work better with illustrations rather than pictures. By illustrating, the authors were able to fit more animals that would be found onto one page. The illustrations in this book were also done very well. The pictures were bright when they needed to be, like on the rainforest page, and muted where they needed to be, like on the desert page. Whether the pictures were bright or not, the colors were saturated, and the animals were life like. The big idea of this book is to teach children about different animals and habitats.… (mais)
