While this book has a lot of great prayers that are not easily found elsewhere, there are problems. For example, while the prayers of St. Bridget are approved, the promises are not. There are also prayers that have stories attached to them, and some contradict each other (such as the number of blows Jesus' body suffered). My suggestion is that you stick to approved prayers and not put too much stock in the backstories.½

An excellent account of Frances E. C. Willard (1839-1898), an American educator and social reformer. She organized the temperance movement. The book has a range of illustrations including portraits at different phases of her life, with her daughters, group pictures of women kneeling in winter as a punishment for their protest against alcohol abuse. Other primary sources include her office, manuscripts, houses she lived in, and more. The book is written for middle school students through college. This source includes extensive notes and bibliography as well as an index.
