This is a very uneven book, but perhaps it is the translation, or I am just out of my depth. The half of the book, on Imagio Dei and Orthodox Antropology in general is great; actually coming to a conclusion in regards to the title is gone about in a very strange way in part two. I read part one quite quickly, and with pleasure, part two necessitated a month's break in the middle of reading.

I would recommend part one of this series (Sacrament of Love) instead.

This is the first time I have had to add a book to Goodreads, and man! am I surprised! I got this book from my university library upon a recommendation that I ought to read some Evdokimov.

Though this book takes a rather broad overview of nearly the whole practice of Christianity. Such books I generally write off (we do not need anymore short summaries!) but this book had a great spin/perspective: works of the early church fathers, Orthodox traditions, mysticism and modernity/psychology are seamlessly blended into a very cohesive and strong thesis.
