At age 11, she witnessed the murder of her parents and three brothers by the Nazis during World War II. Alone in the world, she managed to survive the Holocaust by passing herself off as a non-Jewish Ukrainian orphan. After the war, she emigrated to Israel. She published her autobiography Genya in Hebrew in 1998.
