Bouncing from one venue and vignette to another does not make a compelling story.
Lots of things, not all interesting, happening. Not as compelling as his other series.
A brief but good episode in the 164th Regiment saga. A purported "walk in the park" mission turns quite serious and bloody with many casualties.
Bloody indeed; from start to finish. Civilian loyalties and difficulties are aptly portrayed as is; a very ugly and difficult place to wage war. The terrain, temperature, and disease were as deadly as the bullets and bombs. The storyline is sufficiently correct for a fictional piece and the action is non-stop.
An appropriate finish for this gritty WW2 saga.
