Denver (A Southwestern Saga) por Sara Orwig
Dan Castle is a young man wrongfully accused of murder. After hitting it big in the gold fields, he moves to Denver to start a building empire. He brings along a prostitute and sets her up with her own house. Meanwhile, he's courting the bank president's daughter, hoping for an entry into Denver society. A third woman, Mary O'Malley, runs a boarding house to support her shiftless family. Mary is the fiancee of Dan's gold mining partner, who would rather keep digging until he becomes a millionaire than return to poor Mary.
It's a convoluted mess of a story that has some good moments. It's obvious Dan belongs with Mary, though it takes him a long time to see it, which is aggravating to the reader. The ending was predictable, and I'm not sure why it took so long to reach it.… (mais)

Hero arrogant ass. No redeeming characteristics. Heroine money grubbing idiot. Timeline too short. Things like hero's father had a heart attack. Next day she decides to leave him and starts the conversation with "I guess it all started back when your father had a heart attack". You mean yesterday? Pedantic dialog and condescending attitudes spouted by both hero and heroine.

meh all around. not even sure why I finished it.

Maybe closer to 2-1/2 stars. It was fairly good but had a couple of problems. They took way too long to figure out they loved each other. Even when the heroine threatened to leave him he still was all about getting her to stay so that he could get his inheritance. It ended extremely quickly.
