Scarlett Osborne

Mary Ann has been trying to keep her head above water for most of her life. Being disabled has not hindered but propelled her into persistence. Thomas grows tired of keeping up appearances as a duke so he takes advantage of "lying low" when he can. By a stroke of luck, the two meet and sparks ensue amidst deception. I really wanted to love this book but most of the events were tediously long and the most interesting parts were woefully sparse in explanation. I found several timelines to be unbelievable due to the author's insistence that the characters were very attracted to one another. Overall, it was a good read but I wanted more insight from the author's thought process. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.… (mais)
