Comprehensive biography of British crooner Al Bowlly. This guy had a marvelous voice and it is a shame he was killed in a WWII bombing raid. Also a shame that Britain did not value crooners the way the States did as he would have been more well known. The author traces Bowlly's life from his birth in South Africa through his club appearances throughout India and the Far East and finally arriving in Britain. His appearances with the Ray Noble Orchestra in the States were covered as well. The author did an excellent job of finding quotes from people who knew or worked with Bowlly as well as tracing his various appearances throughout Europe.
