Casey was a fireman who is 100% dedicated to his job. He has trouble taking a break, especially after he is injured on the job. He struggles with the scar that he has on his face, and stays away from men because of it. When his boss forces him to take a vacation, he decides to stay home, but goes out to a club in Vegas one night. There he meets the very sexy Luke.

Luke is a manager of a casino, and he is also a workaholic. He does, however, find many opportunities to get out. He doesn't typically connect with anyone outside of a hook up, but there is something about Casey that draws him in. After a very hot encounter, Casey takes off, and Luke can't stop thinking about him. He is able to connect again with him, and they complement each other very well.

I loved the confidence that Luke had, and it helped bring out some in Casey as well. For someone who seemed on the outside that he had everything together, it was great seeing inside Casey and what made him so dedicated to the job. I loved his scenes with his therapist-I felt like we really got to know more about him. Luke was so good for Casey, and Casey was great for Luke, too.

The writing was awesome. I was completely hooked in the first chapter and drawn into the story as we learned about Casey. The writing flowed, and I loved the author's style. I hadn't read any books by Myra Scott prior to this, but I will definitely be remedying that. As I was reading, I realized that Zane, Mick, Gage, and Bart all had books before in the Sin City Sentries series. I didn't know prior, and I typically hate starting a book in the middle (although this is a spin off series, not the middle). Without having read them, I had no problem jumping into the story and knowing what I needed to about the guys to enjoy this story. I will, however, be going back to read those. I'm looking forward to more!

Rodney and Hudson were rivals in college, and it all comes to blows when they see each other again years later. Rodney was attracted to Hud when they were in school, but he thought he was straight so he kept it quiet. Now that he knows Hud is gay, he can't ignore his feelings--even if Rodney can't immediately shake the rivalry/bad feelings they have.

I loved when they came together, and I could understand why there was tension in them trying to decide if the other was sincere or just out for revenge. Rod was a right jerk at a few points in the book, but he questioned Hud's sincerity, so it made sense. I felt there was a lot of build up to them getting together and figuring out the court case, and that energy was great. The concept of the court case was very interesting, too. Overall, the story seemed to slow down to a simmer as we got to the end though. The "I love you's" seemed fast, and for the court case begin such a big part of the story, it seemed like it was skimmed over in the end.

I did enjoy this book, and I continue to love this universe of characters. I don't think it was quite as strong as the first book (which I very much loved with a big 5 stars), but it was definitely a 4 star read. I'm looking forward to more.

This was a surprising read - I didn't much read the description of the book - the content of it surprised me - there was certain things toward the end of the book I did not expect. I liked the whole rivalry aspect in the book and it was really sweet - and had surprise spanish and since I'm trying to learn to speak it for next time I travel out there - it's fun to read it! I recommend it for sure - it's an interesting sweet read.

I'm going to give this a 3.25.

Overall, I liked the story. It had a great premise of competitors to enemies to lovers. There was definitely a lot of tension. Hudson and Rodney were both characters I could stand behind. However, I did have problems with the timing of the court case, which normally wouldn't be all that big a problem, but since the case is a huge part of the book, it kind of drew me out of the story.

I would be willing to read more by this author.
