Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography

Four stars for value, browsability, and (so far as I've noticed so far) accuracy in what it says. It's an odd book: an encyclopedia (in Japanese only, despite the alternative title) showing all the photographers whose works are represented in the gallery, plus a handful whose works aren't represented but should be. One irritation is that almost every photographer gets a small reproduction and half a smallish page of text, which isn't enough to say much. (Some photographers get even less.) Another is that a fair number represented in the gallery don't get an entry here, and this is the closest there is to a gallery catalogue.
