As an avid reader and lifelong learner, I have curated a collection of books that reflect my deep appreciation for memoirs, nonfiction, and works by Black authors. Acerca de Mim

Darrell Paschal, MBA, CAPM (he/him) is a project manager, educator, social justice advocate, and writer inspired by his rich roots in the Deep South. In addition, he is a U.S. Air Force veteran committed to supporting veterans' rights and well-being by advocating for fair and equitable V.A. benefits and opportunities. Through his research, writing, and public service, he centers theories of anti-racist approaches centering community building, storytelling, accountability, and transparency to challenge pervasive systems of power and domination that permeate individual, institutional, and societal levels—through leadership he intentionally disrupts the existing power dynamics and challenges the status quo.

Darrell has 10+ years of organizational leadership experience, specifically focusing on project management. Darrell’s public service includes his previous roles within the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and the United States Air Force. Darrell’s project management experience spans various industries and includes skills such as operations management, process improvement, risk management, and multiple project management software. He is well-versed in methodologies like Agile and Waterfall and has technical competencies in software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, Monday.com, and the R Programming Language.

Darrell's scholarly approach to project management is evident in his ability to apply theoretical frameworks and industry best practices to real-world contexts. His extensive experience in project management across diverse sectors showcases his adaptability, strategic acumen, and skillful handling of complex projects. With a firm grasp on operational dynamics and a focus on process optimization, Darrell is poised to excel in challenging project management roles, consistently delivering outcomes aligned with organizational objectives.

As a first-generation doctoral student in the Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership program (EPOL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his doctoral specialization focuses on diversity and equity in education with a commitment to social justice. Prior to this, he completed an MBA with a project management emphasis from Robert Morris University, as well as an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus. His undergraduate education comprises a B.Sc. in Urban Studies from the esteemed Tennessee State University, focusing on urban planning, public policy, and community development. Additionally, he holds a B.Sc. in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

His doctoral research, activism, and public service are driven by a fervent desire to dismantle systems of oppression by bridging the gap between scholarly research and practical community engagement. He places particular emphasis on investigating the lived experiences of Black students, parents, educators, and communities, with an intentional focus on centering the Black voice. This deliberate approach allows him to explore and identify best practices for attaining educational, informational, and economic equity. He aims to critically interrogate systems of discretion that underlie perceived notions of equity, challenging the inherent assumptions and biases. As a critical scholar, Darrell critically analyzes the historical and contemporary discriminatory policies and practices that have adversely affected Black communities, scrutinizing their ongoing effects. He intentionally writes and research with the everyday commitment to disrupt ideas, policies, practices, institutions, structures, and relationships that (re)produce inequities in access, opportunity, perceived deservedness, legitimacy, safety, and life expectancy based on race.
