- My library is mostly 18th and 19th century novels, and then non-fiction,

- After completing my BA in History in 1986 from the University of Oregon, I ran away to Turkey and made my home here in a historic village on the Bosporus with my husband and our child. I earned an MA in Ottoman History in 1991 and have been working at the University ever since reading graduate level theses and dissertations. I get some of my best ideas while walking to and from work on the Bosporus.
