I'm only a part-time lit blogger. (Sometimes pictures of my cat get mixed in.)

What was the last book you blogged?

I blog mostly to keep track of what I've read. I'd put the reviews on LT, except I don't own many of the books, and only want to catalog my actual library.

The last book I've blogged about was Vaginas: An Owner's Manual by Carol Livoti and Elizabeth Topp. (A mother/daughter team.)

Vaginas

Later today, or maybe tomorrow, I'll be blogging about the second book in Tad Williams Otherland series, River of Blue Fire.

I'm on a LiveJournal usergroup called 50 book Challenge. For people who'd like to read more, and have a goal of reading a min of 50 books this year. We read, review, and post.

I think my last book there was:
The Language of Threads by Gail Tsukiyama
Sequel to Women of the Silk, following Pei from Canton to Hong Kong, trying to escape from the Japanese during WWII, then following Pei to her sixties.

It's a nice user group to get more recommendations for what to read next, see how people felt about a book, etc. They're how I found LibraryThing.

The last "literary" thing I wrote was supposed to be an homage to Joan Didion's fantastic essay "On Keeping a Notebook."

Like PhoenixTerran, I started my blog as a way to keep track of the books I've read and what I thought of them. Everyone kept telling me 'you should have a blog/you should have a myspace/you should have a livejournal') and my response would inevitably be 'my life's too boring to blog about!' so I thought a book blog would be the perfect answer.

My site is http://www.alifeinbooks.com and the last book I blogged about was Winner of the National Book Award by Jincy Willett.

And Opinicus - thank you! My book club did Women of the Silk earlier in the year and we all thought it needed a sequel and wondered if there was one. I'm glad to learn from your post that there is and I'll be sure to tell my fellow 'Bluestockings' about it.

How do you guys choose what book you're going to write about? Do you pick only new books, or whatever you're reading at the time?

I've been limiting myself to writing about fairly recent books.

Ignore at least one of those messages. Firefox is giving me hell today.

I blog every book I read, with the exception of the odd one I don't finish (a recent example: Death by Darjeeling). And as for which books I read, well, mostly it depends on mood.

2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future

You can find the review on my blog at http://bookspirit.blogspot.com, my newly started lit blog. There isn't much there, I'm still working on it, but I plan to focus on book reviews and reading/book related stuff.

The last book I blogged about was Alberto Manguel's "The Library at Night" - not a proper review because I haven't actually read the book yet! The last review I did was of Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman, and that was quite a while ago, but it's on my blog.

#6 > I'm interested in that also - how everyone chooses what books to blog about. And do you review only the books you enjoy, or even the ones you end up not liking?
