Greetings! I am about to begin reading Elmo Zumwalt's memoir, On Watch. Has anyone read this book and/or have any insight into Zumwalt's reliability as an observer/reporter of history? Obviously, he would know best what his own opinions and experiences are, but otherwise, do folks think he has a keen and relatively unbiased eye about events?

Thanks!

I'll be interested to hear what others say. I knew someone who served with Zumwalt's son in Vietnam. If I recollect correctly the son died from complications of exposure to agent orange.

For anyone interested, I finally finished this memoir last week and found it very interesting, if quite detailed and somewhat slow in places. You can see my comments in the Current Reading thread.
