I have changed the ones that affect my library, but there are lots more. I also left a message saying that changing to Spanish should only be done on the Spanish site, not the English one.

Of course it might be useful if someone could explain that in Spanish.

Actually, it might be Brazilian Portugese.

I have great faith in the DeepL Translator, so I think this translation is perfectly fine. (In Swedish, DeepL got it 100% correct.)

Por favor, no cambie las cadenas en inglés del sitio en inglés al español. Sólo debe hacerlo en el sitio en español (es.librarything.com).

I've got it down below 300, concentrating on the non-Brazilians.

I tried to make the edits to move them to Portuguese but it says that the edits were all on the English side.
That might need to be a bug.

>4 gilroy: The gender field, like birth date and date of death, is not language specific. All changes affect all language sites. For the Swedish site, I've added "Use English" to the instruction text for it.

For dates, that makes sense, as they stay the same, but not for gender.

>6 MarthaJeanne: There was a technical reason for it, to be able to compile the author gender stats for your books. But it's unfortunate.

Well, I noticed this because a few of my authors had moved from female and male to feminino and masculino, so whether or not it used to help, now that we have free text, it does not help compile the stats.

Unless it's changed in the meantime, in Aug. 2021 Tim said: "Gender is complicated and non-English translations tip it over into true mess. I have no good answers for how to do non-English genders, so we're going to have to go with English ones for now." (https://www.librarything.com/topic/334524#7582321)

After they stop, will it be time to ask for Revert-bot powers to activate?
