I read this with a growing sense of bemusement over the different lives people lead. What completely different world views Jenny and I have, and yet I found this book refreshing for its unapologetic openness and truthfulness about how the author feels about love, lust, and faking it. Our polite society is a bit prim on the subject normally, and I think it would do us some good to be able to talk openly on the subjects. Maybe not quite THIS openly all the time (egads). ( ) I like Jenny MCCarthy books so far as for what I've read but this one didn't seem to live up to what I've read in the past. Some parts of the book are just laugh out loud funny. And then other chapters I completely skipped as she's interviewing her therapist or astrology signs in regards to sex. This book was supposed to be light and fun from a comedian, not reading about science or interviews with professionals. I liked it overall but parts were just not good. I am a HUGE fan of Jenny McCarthy's books...I adored Belly Laughs, Baby Laughs, and Life Laughs so much that I read them in one sitting...and have read them over and over again. I loved her candor and brutal honestly she showed in those books....So needless to say I was ecstatic that her new book {Love, Lust & Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance} came out! I bought it the first day I could on my kindle and started reading it and about 4 days later I was done. I bought it the first day I could on my kindle and started reading it and about 4 days later I was done. Seriously, FOUR DAYS. I was insanely disappointed. BEYOND words. Occasionally she would have the brutally honest moments we all know and love from her, but the rest of the book just fell flat. I was disappointed that she took a whole new approach to this book. Instead of it being about her and her experiences there were these chapters I wound up skipping over because it was some absurd interview with her therapist or doctor or some random person. I get it that she didn't want to dish the dirt on her relationship with Jim Carey, but honestly, why? She was upfront about her failed marriage, the difficulty of raising an autistic son, the craziness of a life in Hollywood in her previous books. For her to suddenly be guarded/jaded against sharing the information in her book begs the question from me...Why even write this book? Honestly I was left feeling like I was jipped. Like the final page in this book was supposed to say PSYCH - this book was a complete joke here's your money back. {yes, I just said psych} - I feel like I can say it since she says it at the end of one of the chapters. Seriously. She makes up a whole chapter and was like Just Kidding. WTF? I get it if she wants to turn into more of a serious writer, I read her Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism book and loved it too. She again had the honesty we have come to know and love from her. For some reason she chose to make this last book a farce - it didn't feel like it was her life/her experiences {aside from like two chapters which were surprisingly real and refreshing}. I don't recommend this book at all. If you do want a good book, read one of the others I mentioned...this one was just miserable and a waste of my time... sem crÃticas | adicionar uma crÃtica
