After years of dating without a connection, Rachel Machacek vowed to try a more dedicated, less slip-shod, more scientific way of finding love. So she committed a year of her life to trying every mainstream (and not-so-mainstream) method of meeting the right guy. In The Science of Single, Rachel welcomes readers into the findings from her roller-coaster year - and although she set out looking for the right chemistry, what she discovers in the process is hilarious, unexpected and infinitely more exciting. One thing she should have tried, imo, was to drink less. Partying until the wee hours before a lunch date is probably not the best idea, nor is wearing beer-goggles (literal or figurative). And I was bothered by her perspective that someone who lived thirty miles away was much too far. I mean, even in Washington D.C. do you really expect to find The One" within a bike ride?
If you do pick it up, and find yourself having trouble, for whatever reason, getting through it, do at least read the conclusion. Like I said, no grand insights or magic formula, but some nice ideas." (
