Jameson Walker approaches Joe Hunter when his daughter Jay and her friend Nicole go missing at a gas station in the Arizona desert while on a cross-country trek across the North American interior. He mentions that a robbery/homicide at the gas station as worrying as the girls were due to be in the vicinity at that time. Joe accepts the job of locating the girls, though not at first convinced there's much to worry about. As Joe picks up the girls' trail he discovers that other young women have also disappeared in the area, and comes across the brutish Logan family. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

Two young women (Jay and Nicole) on a road trip to California have not been heard of for three days. Their last contact was a phone call to Jay's father (Jameson Walker) when they were in New Mexico. The police aren't interested, three days isn't long enough for them, and their theory is they're just off having fun. Jameson Walker knows his daughter better and is worried, especially as there hasn't been any activity on the Internet either. He hires Joe Hunter to find his girl.
If you haven't read any of the series before Joe Hunter is a former Special Forces operative from the UK, but he is now based in America. He is now an independent security consultant, protector of the innocent or vigilante depending on your viewpoint. He is a bit of a Lone Ranger and will stop at nothing to bring the girls home safe and sound, even if it means his own death.
The action takes place in the Arizona desert and the girls have fallen into the hands of a sadistic group, but they need to beware because Joe is on their trail...
This is a book with a lot of action and is very fast paced. It is a very enjoyable read and is ideally suited for anyone who enjoys Lee Child's Jack Reacher books. I would recommend the book to all having enjoyed both books I've read in the series. The first book in the series is Dead Men's Dust which was short listed for the International Thriller Writers' Debut Thriller of 2009 Award. While there are small mentions of other books the books hold up very well on their own. I will definitely be looking out for other books in the series. ( )
