When a visitor shows up on her doorstep one night, Lizzie wonders if he's made a mistake. Yet she can't deny that the man seems so familiar even though she's never met him till now. Taken aback by the fact that the man reveals his name to be that of Adam Nichols, Lizzie briefly wonders if she's lost her mind. There's no way that he could be the same person who once owned the funeral parlor. At least, that's what she keeps telling herself.
Her suspicion builds when Adam claims that she's to be his assistant and that he also intends to restore the funeral home with her help. Lizzie balks and tells him repeatedly that he's mistaken as she's not his assistant. She bought the house fair and square and she intends to keep it.
A phone call to the realtor reveals that the person she negotiated with in order to buy the house has never worked there. Even more surprising is the fact that the house was never up for sale. As Lizzie struggles to understand what is going on, she refuses to give up what is now hers. Even if that means that she must surrender herself to the entity that now lives within her home.
While this story was quite short, it was still a great read. I felt that it was an introduction, of sorts, for a novel. It definitely has potential, that's for sure. A truly delightful read! ( )
