I chose this book because aside from majoring in Elementary Education, I also am majoring in Deaf Studies. This book could be very useful to children who are starting to learn ASL or for anyone! What I enjoyed about this book was the word structure, along with the images that were provided. This particular book had a rhyming word structure. “Aim for the bull’s-eye. It’s a circle and a dot. Eat frankfurters while they’re nice and hot.” This is just one example of the many rhymes that take place in this book. The images that were provided included the hand shapes of the American Sign Language alphabet. This gives the reader a visual representation of what their hand should look like when they are making the hand shape. This book also includes a ASL glossary which could be helpful to ASL learners. The big idea of this book is to provide exposure to ASL through rhyming. ( )
